Intra-Department Debate Competition (Spring 2015) at UAP

 

The Career Development Club (CDC) of Department of Business Administration (DBA) of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized an "Intra-Department Debate Competition of Spring 2015" on 18th May to 20th May, 2015 in DBA campus.

There were 6 groups in the competition and each group comprised of 3 participants. This debate competition was held in English and topics were selected on the basis of recent development in socio-economic environment in our country.

Debate is an intellectual exercise that benefits various aspects of students' life. Debate cultivates leadership skills, develops investigative & analytical skills, trains students to think critically, enriches open-mindedness and builds their self confidence.

Faculty members of DBA were the judges in this competition and evaluated the participants with their expertise on the basis of their performances. A certificate of appreciation was awarded for each of the participant for their participation in the competition.

Earlier, a workshop on debate was also held organized by CDC at the DBA on Tuesday, 19 May 2015. The guest speaker of this workshop was Zahead kamal, Lecturer, University of Notre Dame. He is also a former debater of University of Dhaka and was a member of Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDC).

From this workshop students learned how to prepare for a university level debate competition and also they realized the importance of debate as extracurricular activities. The speaker's informative speech helped the students in plotting new ideas and knowledge about debate.
